Me and my table before the festivities began.  Me and my table before the festivities began. So pretty! So pretty! I love the pot leaves. I love the pot leaves. Moon Canyon flowers Moon Canyon flowers

I love the pot leaves. I put out pot blueberries and vape pens. I put out pot blueberries and vape pens. Party favors.  Party favors.

I’ve had parties where we smoked pot before, but never an official “pot party.” After it was legalized in California, I decided now was as good a time as ever.

I only invited my friends that indulge, because sober people don’t want to talk to high people and high people don’t want to talk to sober people. Also, I decided not to cook pot into the food because my experience with edibles is that you never know when they’re going to kick in and it is difficult to control the intensity of your experience. Don’t get me started on the time I ate an entire chocolate bar because “it wasn’t working.” I freaked out so bad that I literally didn’t smoke weed again for a year.

I did make pot blueberries available and gave them away as party gifts. Quick tip I learned from my friend, Susan: SMALL edibles digest quicker and therefore hit you faster. This makes it easier to judge how much THC you are getting.

Susan also knows a grower and gave me some plants. Unfortunately, there weren’t any around at the time that had buds on them or I would have incorporated the buds and leaves into the flower arrangement, like this bride did in her bouquet:

I cooked a Meditteranean meal taken entirely from the cookbook Zahav, by Michael Solomonov. It won the James Beard Award in 2016 and for good reason. It consistently yields incredible results, stoned or not.

We had so. much. fun. I don’t remember much other than laughing for two hours straight; the kind of laughing that makes your sides and cheeks hurt. If you’re so inclined, I highly recommend a pot party!
